Meet Our Team: Shane!

Before Detours, I spent over a decade hopping across the globe — working, backpacking, and collecting stories you won’t find in guidebooks. By the time I joined Miles (Detours' founder) in the company's early days, I was ready to take everything I’d learned and pour it into something meaningful.

I started as a trip leader in 2014, and by 2018 became Detours’ first full-time office employee — working elbow-to-elbow with Miles from his dining room table. Through every challenge, red-eye flight, and spreadsheet meltdown, we built Detours into what it is today.

In November 2025, following the company’s transition to new ownership under Daniel, I stepped into the role of Chief Operating Officer, continuing my commitment to strengthening and growing our community.

Travel is in my DNA. I moved 18 times before I turned 18 (nope, not military — just my parents’ version of fun), and I’ve been chasing the horizon ever since. But what fuels me most isn’t just the destination — it’s the people. I’m here to help create experiences that celebrate connection, curiosity, and courage — and to remind you that life gets better the further outside your comfort zone you go.
