Detours turns 10 years old – 3 ways we are celebrating our birthday

With this being our 10th year of sharing wonderful adventures across the world, we had to outdo ourselves and do something really special. Thinking of what we possibly could do to celebrate with all our past, present, and future travelers, we came up with these 3 epic trips that we think are the perfect ways to say ‘happy birthday’.

Private Ship – Caribbean Sailing Cruise

Though these trips have since finished, as the first of three unique celebratory birthday itineraries, we thought there was no better way to kick off our birthday year than with an epic private cruise in the Caribbean! With 8 glorious days on a 156-foot sailing charter in the middle of the Caribbean, we had 2 fabulous groups join us on a journey through these beautiful blue waters. Starting and ending on the Dutch side of Sint Maarten, we spent this unforgettable trip island-hopping along the most stunning and exclusive islands in the Caribbean.

Private Castle – Castle Week: Tuscany

For our second birthday trip, we wanted to do it in style. What could be more amazing than waking up in a beautifully restored 600-year old castle perched high up on a Tuscan hillside and surrounded by a beautiful and rustic Italian village! With nothing but endless vineyards as far as the eye can see, bask in the sun by the pool of this massive 20-suite castle compound and explore the famous nearby sites of Siena, Florence, and Pisa before returning back each night to relish in this authentic Italian castle of luxury.

Private Island - Belize

Our final birthday trip had to be one for the books. So we thought, what could even top having our own private castle? Well why not an entire ISLAND of course! This trip combines the lush jungles of Central America with sprawling ancient Mayan ruins with our very own privately-rented island paradise! For just over a week, we'll find ourselves exploring ancient archeological sites, snorkelling and kayaking through the crystal-clear Caribbean waters, and adventuring through tropical jungles. It will all start on the mainland of Belize before we head to our very own private island to cap off our trip, where all meals are prepared by our own chef, and there will be a ton of island activities to partake in.

We are so grateful to have met so many wonderful people over the years and look forward to meeting all the new and fabulous travelers on our trips to come. We loved kicking off these celebrations back in February and cannot wait to share the rest of these wonderful special trips with you.
